Oluwatosin “Mr Eazi” Ajibade, the Nigerian afrobeats star and entrepreneur, has publicly announced that he plans to run for the presidency in an African country.
In a video shared on Snapchat, Mr Eazi said he has been considering this move for some time and believes “it’s time to share” the idea with his audience. He described the kind of leader he wants to be as one who is not driven by power or money, but by forward-thinking, youthfulness, energy and service.
He did not specify which African country he intends to lead. Some people have speculated that he could mean Ghana where he studied and where his music has strong roots or Nigeria.
Over the years, Mr Eazi has built a reputation not just as a musician but also as a businessman and cultural influencer. He has made contributions in both Nigeria and Ghana and is known for creating the “Banku sound,” which blends elements of both Ghanaian and Nigerian musical traditions.
His announcement has stirred widespread reaction online, with some fans treating it as aspirational or symbolic, and others wondering whether this signals a serious political trajectory
