The 2015 Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for Egbeda State Constituency and Former Supervisor for Works in Egbeda Local Government between 2019 and 2023, Hon. Sanni Oladiran Wasiu has once again demonstrated his compassion and commitment to community development as he empowered 200 widows across 11 wards within the local government with cash support and distributed food items to cushion the economic hardship currently facing many families.

The empowerment programme, held at the Old SDP building, Egbeda Local Government drew a large gathering of political leaders, community representatives and party members who commended Hon. Sanni for his dedication to grassroots empowerment and humanitarian service. Beyond the widows, he also extended cash incentives to women leaders, councillors and key party stakeholders, in recognition of their sacrifices and roles in strengthening the political structure at the local level.

In his address, Hon. Sanni expressed gratitude to God for the privilege to give back to the community and reiterated his belief in purposeful leadership driven by compassion. He praised Governor Seyi Makinde for his exemplary governance, describing him as a model of people-oriented leadership whose vision continues to inspire many across Oyo State.

“Governor Seyi Makinde has shown what it means to lead with sincerity and a heart for the people. His leadership inspires me and I am committed to replicating his good works and even doing more when given the opportunity to serve,” he said.

Hon. Sanni further announced that his next outreach will focus on youth empowerment and skill acquisition, aimed at creating sustainable opportunities and reducing unemployment. He also urged residents to actively participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise as a crucial step toward shaping the nation’s political future.

The event was well attended by prominent figures including Pastor Olamoyegun Judah, former acting party chairman of Egbeda Local Government; Chief (Mrs.) Jumoke Lawal; and representative of Hon. Sikiru Sanda, the Egbeda Local Government Chairman. Also present were Chief Olawale Ebenezer Alawe, the current party chairman; Alhaji Busari Liadi, vice chairman; Hon. Osuolale KanduKandu, former party secretary and current treasurer; Alhaji Lukman Akinpelu, and Hon. Teslim Raji, who represented the councillors.

In their separate remarks, they commended Hon. Sanni for his thoughtful gesture and praised him for bringing relief to widows at a time when the economy is harsh on everyone. They described his act of generosity as timely and impactful, especially for those struggling to make ends meet.

All ward chairmen, women leaders, and the party youth leader were also in attendance, collectively applauding Hon. Sanni’s enduring commitment to community welfare and unity.

The event concluded with songs of appreciation and heartfelt prayers for Hon. Sanni Wasiu, whom many described as “a beacon of hope and compassion in Egbeda.
