The Acting Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Bayo Lawal has formally expressed his support for the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), citing the group’s potential to drive economic growth and innovation in the state. He made the declaration during APWEN’s 2025 International Conference and Annual General Meeting, held at the International Conference Centre in Ibadan.
Lawal remarked that the theme of the gathering: “Revitalising Nigeria’s Manufacturing Sector Through Innovative Engineering Solutions” could not have come at a more critical time, as the country seeks strategies for sustainable development, industrial renewal, and job creation. He reaffirmed the state government’s readiness to collaborate with APWEN and emphasized the importance of engineering, science and innovation in fueling productivity.
Dr. Adebisi Osim, President of APWEN, described the event as a culmination of efforts to empower women engineers, noting the profession’s essential role in shaping the nation’s technological and industrial future.
