Former Osun State deputy governor Sen. Iyiola Omisore has officially declared his intention to run for governor in the 2026 election under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement signed and released on Saturday, Omisore explained that after “deep reflection and wide consultations,” he resolved to “formally declare” his candidacy at an event which is scheduled for Tuesday, 7 October 2025, at the APC Secretariat in Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo.
He said his campaign would follow the theme “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams,” and appealed to party members and supporters to unite around what he described as a shared vision for renewal. Omisore expressed confidence in the people of Osun, saying that together they can “restore hope, strengthen governance and deliver a brighter future” for all residents.
Omisore has previously contested for the governorship in Osun and also served as a Senator representing Osun East from 2003 to 2011 and recently served as National Secretary of APC.
