As the Anambra State governorship election scheduled for 8 November 2025 approaches, the Anambra State Police Command has declared itself fully prepared and equipped to safeguard lives and property throughout the electoral process.
In a statement made following a final election-security advocacy meeting held with officers in Awka, the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, affirmed that all tactical units, intelligence teams and patrol formations have been placed on heightened alert. He emphasized that the Command has concluded a statewide sensitization tour aimed at equipping personnel for professional election duties and engaging key stakeholders in the lead-up to the poll.
Orutugu called on officers to maintain strict neutrality, uphold human rights and demonstrate discipline and vigilance ahead of and during the election. He also appealed to residents to cooperate with security operatives and remain law-abiding as the process unfolds.
With the security architecture now firmly in place and community-engagement efforts underway, the stage is set for what the Command hopes will be a peaceful, credible election. One in which the people of Anambra can cast their ballots free from fear.
