African Democratic Congress- ADC Unveils Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation Drive in Oyo
The Oyo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally launched its Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration (MRMR) Programme, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots structure and expanding its membership base across the state.
Speaking at the unveiling held in Ibadan, the Chairman of the MRMR Committee, Chief Bisi Ilaka, described the exercise as a critical organizational step toward consolidating the party’s presence at the grassroots and enhancing democratic participation among citizens. He noted that Oyo State comprises 351 wards across 33 Local Government Areas and 6,389 polling units, all of which form the operational framework for the exercise.
According to Ilaka, the revalidation and registration drive is designed to reconnect with existing members while onboarding new supporters committed to the ADC’s principles of accountability, inclusive governance and people-centred leadership. The exercise combines ward-based physical registration with a digital registration platform, ensuring wider accessibility and participation.
The committee chairman also acknowledged the support of the party’s national leadership, particularly the National Chairman, David Mark, and the National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, whose strategic guidance, he said, continues to strengthen the institutional framework of the party nationwide.
The 11-member MRMR committee, chaired by Ilaka is structured across the three senatorial districts of the state to ensure effective coordination. Additional deployment of three committee members to each Local Government Area and ward has been instituted to guarantee comprehensive grassroots coverage.
Ilaka urged party members and residents of Oyo State to actively participate in the exercise, noting that broad-based membership mobilization remains essential to consolidating the party’s democratic structures and positioning the ADC for greater political engagement in the build-up to the 2027 general elections.
